The DVD is presented & demonstrated by Mike Linley. Mike is an award-winning producer and scientific adviser for the long-running Anglia TV wildlife series Survival. He has an Honours degree in Zoology and has over 30 years experience in the wildlife television programme making business which started with the BBC on the Life on Earth series and the Anglia TV series Survival. Between 1980 and 2001 Mike filmed and produced over 45 half-hour wildlife documentaries and 22 one-hour specials, many of which have won major International awards. During his time with Survival he also researched, wrote and produced over 200 wildlife programmes for children including the television series Animals in Action and the Animal Show.
Since 2001 he has run his own production company Hairy Frog Productions in Norfolk, UK, working with Granada Television, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and Educational channels. Mike is also one of the chief tutors for Wildeye wildlife film-making and film training courses that are organised by Piers Warren in Norfolk (see sites: www.wildlife-film.com www.wildeye.co.uk www.wildlifefilmcareers.com).
Mike has a vast knowledge and experience as a filmmaker and scientific adviser on all aspects of wildlife, natural history and the media. Now, for the very first time Mike's wealth of knowledge, experience and skills relating to wildlife filmmaking are available on this 140-minute training DVD.
Survival is televisions most successful and longest running wildlife series (1961-2001). The first programme, shown in February 1961 was about wildlife in central London. Since then Survival has produced over 900 programmes about wildlife, including 180 especially for children in the form of Animals In Action and The Animal Show.
Survival has been sold to 110 countries and has won the Queen's Award to Industry for exceptional overseas sales; twice. Awards of excellence have also included 3 Emmys and over 100 International awards. In 1991 Here Be Dragons won not only the Best of Festival at Missoula Montana but also at Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival. First prizes were won for The Secret World of Bats and Goshawk - Phantom of the Forest. The peak time one-hour Specials attract audiences of 8 - 10 million people.
